WHEN CHANGE FEELS HARD

Sometimes we know something needs to change long before we know how to change it.

Maybe you keep reacting in ways you don’t like. Maybe the same fear, habit, frustration, or unhealthy pattern keeps showing up. You’ve prayed about it. You’ve tried harder. You may even know what you should do. But knowing what is healthy and actually living it are not always the same thing.

Sometimes we need help slowing down, understanding what is really happening, and recognizing a healthier way forward.

HOW WE GUIDE YOU

We don’t believe our job is to have all the answers or tell you exactly what to do. Our role is to help slow things down, ask meaningful questions, offer biblical wisdom and perspective, and create space for you to recognize what the Holy Spirit may be showing you.

In many ways, we simply serve as guides — helping facilitate an honest conversation between you and the Holy Spirit as you begin to understand what is happening and discover a healthier way forward.

WHAT DISCIPLESHIP COUNSELING LOOKS LIKE

Discipleship Counseling is intentional, structured, and designed to move toward a clear ending rather than continue indefinitely.

1. Start with a Discovery Call

We begin with a free Discovery Call to hear what is bringing you to us, answer your questions, and determine whether Discipleship Counseling is a good fit for what you are experiencing.

2. Meet One-on-One

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes and take place one-on-one with Nathan or Lacey. Each session gives space to slow things down, talk honestly about what is happening, ask questions, pray, and explore what the Holy Spirit may be revealing.

3. Intentional Participation

As themes and patterns begin to emerge, we may use Scripture, prayer, and practical exercises to help you better understand what is happening and begin practicing healthier responses. There may also be intentional “homework” between sessions.

4. Activation & Implementation

The goal is not simply to understand something new, but to begin living differently. Throughout this journey, we will help you identify practical next steps and encourage you to apply what you are learning in everyday situations.

5. Move Forward with the Holy Spirit

Most participants work with us for approximately 12–18 weeks, although every situation is different. Our goal is not long-term dependence on us. It is to equip you with greater awareness, healthier patterns, and practical tools, while helping you develop healthy dependence on the people around you. Ultimately, our goal is for you to better hear and respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit moment by moment.

ARE YOU READY?

Discipleship Counseling works best when you are ready to actively participate in your own growth. You do not need to have everything figured out. You do not need to know exactly why you are stuck or what needs to change. But you do need a willingness to be honest, consider new perspectives, receive input, and practice something different.

Use the short Readiness Assessment below to honestly consider where you are right now. Your score is not a pass or fail. It is simply a tool to help you recognize whether you are ready to engage in the process of change.

The Readiness Assessment
To discover if you are ready for discipleship with us, rate yourself on a scale of one to four on each of the statements below (1 = strongly disagree to 4 = strongly agree). This score will help you decide if you are ready.

I genuinely want something in my life to change.
I am willing to be honest about unhealthy beliefs, behaviors, or patterns in my life.
I am open to perspectives that may challenge the way I currently see things.
I am willing to receive input, correction, and encouragement from someone else.
I am willing to take responsibility for the choices I can make, even when I cannot control the outcomes or my circumstances.
I am willing to try something different, even when it feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
I understand that setbacks, mistakes, and failures can be part of the growth process.
I am willing to invest intentional time and effort outside of our sessions to practice what I am learning.
YOUR SCORE

What does your score mean?

8–16 = You may recognize that something needs to change, but you’re not quite ready to actively engage in Discipleship Counseling — and that’s okay. Pay attention to the statements you scored lowest and consider what may be holding you back. 17–24 = You recognize that something needs to change and are open to growth, but there may still be areas where you feel hesitant, uncertain, or uncomfortable. Pay attention to the statements you scored lowest and consider what may be behind those responses. Recommended Next Step: Spend some time exploring The Freedom Process↗︎ on your own, or Schedule a Free Discovery Call if you would like to talk through your questions and determine whether Discipleship Counseling is the right next step for you.

25–32 = You recognize that growth will require your participation and are willing to be honest, receive input, consider new perspectives, and practice something different. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning — discovering what needs to change is part of the process. Recommended Next Step: Schedule a Free Discovery Call. We’ll hear a little about what is bringing you to Discipleship Counseling, answer your questions, and determine together whether what we offer is a good fit.

MEET YOUR GUIDES

Our approach has been shaped by years of walking with people through difficult seasons, unhealthy patterns, broken relationships, painful addiction, spiritual struggles, and the everyday work of learning how to live healthy lives with Jesus.

We don’t approach these conversations as people who have everything figured out. Rather, we simply partner with you as guides who are willing to listen, ask meaningful questions, share what we’ve learned, offer perspective, and help create space for you to hear and respond to the Holy Spirit.
